Industry/Solution Background

For new energy vehicles, one of the most important parts is the motor drive,among which IGBT (Insulated gate bipolar transistor) plays a role. IGBT accounts for about half of the cost of motor drive system, while motor drive system accounts for 15-20% of the cost of the whole vehicle, that is to say, IGBT accounts for 7-10% of the cost of the whole vehicle, which is the second highest cost component besides battery, and also determines the energy efficiency of the whole vehicle.

Solution Overview

The heat dissipation efficiency of IGBT for vehicle is much higher than that of industrial grade, and the maximum temperature in the inverter can be up to 20 ℃. Meanwhile, the strong vibration condition should be considered. The IGBT of vehicle specification grade is far above the industrial grade. The first thing to solve the problem of heat dissipation is to improve the thermal conductivity and the ability to withstand the power cycle in the IGBT module. According to the above application design characteristics, the power cycle test (intermittent / steady state) with Tc controlled between 25 ℃ - 175 ℃ (± 2 ℃) is carried out.
